Becoming an Outdoors Woman was held at Outlaw Ranch near Custer during September 14 - 16, 2007.  Conservation Officers volunteering their time were Josh Brainard and his wife Sara, Blair Waite and wife Donna, and Brad Saltsman.  Walleye fillets, crockpot pheasant, elk burgers, bighorn sheep burgers, goulash, and stroganoff were served, as was mountain. lion roast.  Elk was donated by several officers, including Blair Waite, Scott Mikkelson, Bruce Nachtigall, and Mike Kintigh. The crew served about 140 people.

SDCOA recently purchased $1,000 of equipment to be donated to the Rapid City Outdoor Campus.

The 2006 Bison raffle was set up with a three tiered award system to encourage distribution and sales by allowing officers to find individuals willing to sell on their behalf.  The majority of the monies allocated for the CO distribution incentives were donated back to the SDCOA for purchase of equipment for the proposed new Outdoor Campus in Rapid.  $600 from these incentives were donated back to the SDCOA specifically for this purpose.  An additional $100 Cabela's gift card was also donated by an officer.  The officer received the card in the mail as a thank you for assisting an out of state waterfowl hunter.  He felt that he could not accept such a gratuity and donated it to the SDCOA .

The purchases were made during the Cabela's Law Enforcement and emergency services personnel appreciation days and we were able to utilize the $700 for the $1,000 of equipment.

Items purchased:  5 BB/pellet gun combinations, 12,000 BB's, 14 fishing rods, 2 -9 quart Dutch Ovens, 2 pop up hunting blinds, and 2 turkey decoys.

Tom made the purchases based on recommendations from the SF Outdoor Campus staff and the Rapid City staff.  Hopefully it will be a good start to the new campus and will offer educational opportunities for years to come.
